Chris and Mary Kay,
This page will help you further understand the complications with this hide. The videos below were uploaded for Charlotte last week. I added the notes below to answer your questions about the timeline.
The cuts were the secondary issue on this hide. As per the request by Charlotte, I tried to work around the numerous flaws. I asked several questions about the impressions on the hide to determine the cause. I left it out for a week to see if there would be any improvements. The tannery did apologize to Charlotte for “sending such a bad hide”.
My initial email:
I have left this hide out on my table for one week. It didn’t make a
difference. It has unnatural long running creases or imprint marks? I
tried simulating pulling it apart and it not change the appearance.
It appears as though maybe hides were stacked and these are the border
edges , or maybe the hide was stored rolled?
Maybe it’s part of some processing error in machinery? The pattern
repeats every 12 ” down half the hide. The exact outline – 27″ across
repeats for 60″ down the hide.
This cannot be right! And after that 60″ run there is a gash?
Please advise.
In regard to new material choices I mentioned a higher quality contract vinyl. There are lower priced options such as Capitano at $40 per yard. You are also free to choose vinyl from Fabricland.
When I did not hear back after the hide status I assumed you went chair shopping.
Let me know what you decide.
